The xAI Imagine feature is a beta video generation tool integrated into the Grok AI chatbot, live to Heavy then wide users Aug 2, 2025.
Powered by xAI’s Aurora engine, Imagine allows users to create short videos (up to 6 seconds, similar to Vine) with synchronized audio from text prompts or static images.
It’s designed for rapid, near-real-time generation, offering four video variations per prompt with infinite scrolling for additional options.
The tool is accessible via the standalone Grok app, but currently limited to SuperGrok subscribers ($30/month) or those on a waitlist for early access starting in October 2025.
Imagine also includes modes like “Spicy” (potentially uncensored content, including nudity), “Fun,” “Normal,” and “Custom,” sparking both excitement and controversy due to its provocative possibilities.
xAI’s acquisition of Hotshot, a video generation startup, has enhanced its capabilities, and the tool leverages the massive computational power of xAI’s Colossus supercomputer (230,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs).
While praised for speed and creativity, it’s still in early beta, with some bugs and comparisons to competitors like Google’s Veo.
