ROBOT LAWYER IN THE COURT! The 6 Ways I Used AI to Litigate + How You Can Too

Plus a BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

The 6 Ways I Used AI to Litigate + How You Can Too + Plus an ANNOUNCEMENT

For a recent matter in court, I decided to put the pedal to the metal on AI for litigation, and here is what I did and what I learned (and how and why and which).

Background: In a large case pending for some time, I jumped in as new attorney for a particular task. There were as you can imagine lots of documents, Word, Pdfs, Jpegs, video even.

1.      I created a timeline instantly – Time is often the center of a legal case and a litigation…deadlines timeline….SPINAL COLUMN FOR FACT RECORDS AND EVENTS – used bespoke tool to pull a Chronology out of a mass of records.

2.      I created a five paragraph Case Summary instantly

3.      I grabbed a Fact Background: Court and Counseling instantly

4.      I grabbed a Fact Background: Opposing Counsel instantly

5.      I grabbed a Fact Background: Both parties instantly

6.      I created an instant legal memo instantly (ok it was LexisAI – this is the best tool) Adding facts and controversies and legal issues (I know what these are as an attorney, and asking for more legal issues identified) I had AI write me a Legal Memo to orient myself on the contours of the relevant law this in this case.

Note: attorneys always have to review, confirm, check, and have to follow up…

What were the benefits to litigate with AI?

·         Hours saved in reviewing documents

·         Hours saved in legal research

·         Hours saved in fact record research

·         Means more time for “high level tasks”

·         GREATER factual information than would probably have had otherwise

·         MORE EXTENSIVE LEGAL CASES STATUTES OTHER to review and rely upon

·         MORE INFORMATION ON JUDGE, COURT RULINGS, STATISTIC

AI IS A REVOLUTION IN LITIGATION – LITIGATOR YOU MUST GET IN HERE – OLD HABITS DIE HARD I KNOW

WHERE DO I BEGIN? WHAT PRODUCTS TO USE? HELP!

HELP IS ON THE WAY.

FOR 18 MONTHS I HAVE BEEN MAKING AN INTENSIVE RESEARCH OF AI TOOLS FOR LEGAL.

NOW HAPPY TO SHARE WITH YOU THAT MY BOOK “A LAWYER’S FIELD GUIDE TO AI” IS ALMOST OUT.

NEARLY 500 PAGES OF CONTENT REVIEWED AND TESTED TOOLS WITH HELPFUL ALPHA AND INDEXES.

*** WITH IT I’LL BE RELEASING THE WORLD’S FIRST AI LAW “BOOKBOT” A COMPREHENSIVE CONVERSATIONAL CHAT TOOL WHICH WILL ALLOW YOU TO INSTANTLY ACCESS ALL THE CONTENTS OF THE BOOK IN A LIVE CONVERSATIONAL FORMAT SO YOU DECIDE HOW TO “READ” THE BOOK AND WHAT YOU NEED.

P.S. Yes I think I did just come up with a new AI term “accordioning”. Accordioning is when you stretch and/or shrink AI outputs (zooming in or out) to see more or less context. I guess its the human version of a context window.

Considering interventions #AI/#ML have made /making in Law.
There are a great many! It's both terrifying and exciting at the same time for lawyers and clients. One thing is for certain, things will never be the same. And so will talk about (boring at first) yet add hopefully something valuable to the conversation being had these days.
[Dear SUBSTACK: you have no category for Law (why) and so I selected Business as the "category" for this podcast.]
